About PromeCyn Tech

A PNG company, building for PNG schools.

We're two Papua New Guineans who got tired of watching schools carry their most important records in stacks of paper and fragile spreadsheets. PromeCynEd is what we built instead.

It started with a report card that never arrived.

My younger brother had a habit of hiding his report cards. Every term there was a reason — it wasn't ready yet, the teacher hadn't finished, it was coming next week. By the time anyone found out how he was really doing, the term was over and it was too late to help him.

That's not unusual. In most schools, a parent finds out how their child is going once or twice a year, on a piece of paper the child carries home. If the paper doesn't arrive, nobody knows.

If a parent could simply open their phone and see the marks, the attendance and the fees, that problem disappears.

At the same time, I was watching the other side of it at work. As Senior Assistant Registrar for student records at the PNG University of Technology, I deal with enrolment data, transcripts and assessment records every day — and I'd seen how much of the country's school administration still runs on Excel and Access. Teachers spending evenings on spreadsheets that break. Marks re-typed three times between the classroom and the report card. Records that exist in one person's files and nowhere else.

Simon had reached the same conclusion from the business side. So we built PromeCynEd — a system where the school's records live in one place, and where a parent can see their own child's progress without waiting for a piece of paper.

We're still building it. But that's the problem we started with, and it's still the one we're solving.

The team

Two founders you can actually call.

PromeCyn Tech is a small company, and that's deliberate. When your school needs something, you talk to the people who build and run the system — not a support queue in another country.

Kuo Sevenifa

Software Developer & Co-founder

Kuo builds and maintains PromeCynEd. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology, where he now works as Senior Assistant Registrar (Records) and Systems Developer.

That day job matters: he manages student records, enrolment data and transcripts for a university, so the problems PromeCynEd solves are ones he deals with himself.

Simon Tontori

Business Architect & Co-founder

Simon leads the commercial side of PromeCyn Tech — working with schools, shaping how the product is delivered, and keeping the business running. He holds diplomas in Business Management and Accounting from Port Moresby Business College.

He has been with PromeCyn Tech since it started, and is usually the first person a school talks to.

The company

Registered, local, and here for the long term.

Schools are right to ask who they're dealing with before handing over student records. Here's the short answer.

Registered in PNG

PromeCyn Tech is a registered Papua New Guinean business (Registration 6-287536), trading since 2020.

Based here, not overseas

We work from Port Moresby, Lae and Goroka. Same time zone, same school calendar, same conditions your school works in.

Internationally recognised

In 2023 we were selected for a Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) workshop in Nadi, Fiji — a U.S. Department of State programme supporting innovators in emerging economies.

How we work

What you can expect from us.

We tell you what it doesn't do

PromeCynEd is a growing system, not a finished one. In a demo we'll show you what works today and be straight about what's still coming — you shouldn't discover the gaps after you've committed.

Your data stays yours

Your school's records belong to your school. You can export them at any time, and if you ever leave, you take a full copy with you. We don't sell or share student information.

Built for how PNG schools actually run

Patchy connectivity, phones rather than computers, and a school calendar that doesn't match the northern hemisphere. We build for those conditions because we work in them.

Come and see it for yourself.

Book a walkthrough and we'll show you PromeCynEd running, with your school's setup in mind.
